With McNeese State officially opening this morning, let the Will Wade rumors start…NOW.
Earlier in the week, I mentioned former Ole Miss head coach Kermit Davis as a potential name at Idaho (Daily Dirt 3/7). Scratch that one – he is definitely not in the mix.
Some names that I’ve heard at D2 Trevecca Nazarene (TN) are Tennessee State assistant Russ Willemsen and Lipscomb assistant Kevin Carroll. In addition to his time at TSU, Willemsen has also been an assistant at South Alabama, Tennessee Tech, and Lee U (TN). Carroll served as the head coach at D2 Maryville University-St. Louis for 7 seasons, and also worked as an assistant at VMI.
I have heard that D3 Bethany College (WVa) has made their choice on a new head coach. Sounds like it’s a D3 assistant from a very good program. The announcement could come as soon as this afternoon.
An NAIA down south has opened. Waiting for the green light then will roll with it. Stay tuned…
