Daily Dirt: St. Patrick’s Day Edition – 3/17/16

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!  Wanted to catch up on a few things before heading out to watch today’s first round games.  Should be interesting to be out in Boston on St. Patty’s Day – wish me luck…

  • Last week, I mentioned that Michael Bradley was out as an assistant at Eastern Kentucky (Bluegrass State Dirt).  I can now also confirm that DBO Trent Angelucci has resigned.  He had been the video coordinator at Georgia Tech before joining Dan McHale’s staff last spring. No word yet on possible replacements for these two spots.
  • DII Lee University (TN) is also making progress with their search. I’ve heard that a large group of applicants has been narrowed to 20. Some names that I’ve heard surrounding this one are: Russ Willemsen (assistant coach – South Alabama, Lee Alum), John Meeks (head coach Wallace State, former assistant at Lee), Chad Warner (former head coach Warner University), and Jason Mays (assistant coach Valdosta State). More here when they cut the list down.
  • DII Millersville is on the hunt to replace Fred Thompson who was released after the season.  I have heard that they are looking for someone with PA/Philly recruiting ties, some type of PSAC experience, and a coach with scholarship level experience.  There are a bunch of names floating around including current and former DII coaches, and a former DI head coach.  More on this as I hear it.
  • Another DII in PA…The search at California (PA) is underway and it sounds like Skype interviews will begin next week. I’ve heard a lot of names mentioned with this one – mostly DIII head coaches, and one DII guy with 500 career wins.  I will have a better list once on-campus interviews begin after the Skype round.
  • Like I mentioned, I will be out today watching the games.  It may be difficult to update the website, but I will be Tweeting any breaking news or updates.  Please follow us on Twitter for the latest rumors, news, and St. Patty’s Day updates…
