Daily Dirt – 4/1/13

April is finally here! March was a crazy – we want to thank all of our readers for giving us our most successful month in history…we had over 385,000 hits on HoopDirt! I’ve got a feeling that April will be even busier! Here are a few things that I’ve heard to kick off the month…

• Loyola (MD) head coach Jimmy Patsos is on campus interviewing today at Siena. He is in the final three there along with Robert Morris head coach Andy Toole and VCU assistant Mike Rhoades. More on that search: http://hoopdirt.com/blog/934d54f0/siena-down-to-three/…

• I have heard that new Drake head coach Ray Giacoletti will retain current assistant Stan Johnson. He has been on the staff for the past two seasons – apparently he Giacoletti have known each other for quite some time.

• I have heard St. Mary’s (CA) assistant Rick Croy’s name mentioned multiple times when talking about the vacant Cal Baptist job. It sounds like the search at CBU will be wrapping up shortly, I’ll keep you updated as soon as I hear something.

•With the hiring of Dedrique Taylor at Cal State Fullerton (should be official today), I have heard from multiple sources that College of Southern Idaho head coach Steve Gosar could be in line for a spot on Taylor’s staff. The two served as assistants together at Portland State in the early 2000’s.

• Word on the street is the Jeff Price could get the Lynn job as early as today. The former interim head coach at South Alabama was the HC at Lynn from 1993-1999 (134-44). We’ll keep our eyes on this one.
