Daily Dirt – 4/10/12

The Lamar State-Port Arthur job has gotten a lot of interest. From what I’ve heard, there are close to 120 applicants to date. One candidate who I can confirm is involved is former Southeast Missouri State / Duquesne / Murray State head coach Scott Edgar. He has also been an assistant at Tennessee and Arkansas. There is no word on a timetable for this one, but it sounds like AD Scott Street will begin to narrow down the names shortly.

I can confirm that Maine-Machias head coach Brac Brady has resigned and will become the next head coach at Tennessee Temple University. Brady has been at the helm of the Clippers since 2005 and was also the AD at the school. He will replace Randy Lee at TTU. Lee resigned earlier this spring to take a job in private business. An official announcement is expected in the next few days.

I published the list of applicants at Odessa this weekend (http://hoopdirt.com/blog/2ba1c210/odessa-candidates/…). I’ve now heard from multiple sources that they believe that Blinn College head coach Tra Arnold is the clear cut leader here. It also sounds like an announcement is impending.

I have heard that Tim Sandquist will be hired as an assistant at Dodge City CC. He spent last season as an assistant at Southwestern CC (IA) and was at Nebraska—Omaha for five seasons before that. It sounds like he has a pretty sweet gig at DCCC with a ton of great perks.

Thanks to ESPN’s Fran Fraschilla for the shout out to HoopDirt on Twitter yesterday! We appreciate Coach Fraschilla’s kind words – he is now the DirtKing’s favorite ESPN announcer (sorry Dickie V.)!
