Some “dirt” to start the day…
• The “hot” name right now at Western Illinois is Ball State assistant Billy Wright. This was his first season at Ball State – he was previously the associate head coach at Western Illinois. I mentioned Minnesota State’s Matt Margenthaler a few days ago (http://hoopdirt.com/blog/f2a84cec/daily-dirt-4-7-14/…) – he and Wright are the two most talked about names here.
• I keep hearing Delaware associate head coach Jeff Rafferty’s name come up when talking about the new staff at Boston College. He has been on the Delaware staff since 2007 and has also worked at New Hampshire and UMass-Lowell. I’ve mentioned in previous blogs that I’ve also heard former Florida Atlantic assistant Mike Jarvis II and Maryland assistant Scott Spinelli names surrounding this one.
• I can confirm that veteran head coach Rico Cabral will become the next head coach at Dean College (MA). The long time Mt. Ida College (MA) head coach spent this past season as an assistant to Jim O’Brien at Emerson College.
• It sounds like NJCAA Hall of Famer Rich Corsetto is involved with the gig at Middlesex County College (NJ). Corsetto has also been the head coach at Hudson County CC and Passaic County CC.
