Wednesday’s Dirt…

  • Following up on a Tweet from yesterday, it sounds like Kennesaw State is close to wrapping up their search. All indications point to Florida assistant Al Pinkins and Tennessee assistant Desmond Oliver being the top two at this point. Hearing this one could be done shortly.

  • The early HOT name at Cincinnati is Northern Kentucky head coach John Brannen. He has killed at at NKU (just over the river from UC) over the past four seasons, including winning 22+ games for the last three years. Should know more shortly as to where this search is headed.

  • I can confirm that Oklahoma assistant Kevin Kruger is headed to UNLV where he will join T.J. Otzleberger’s new staff. He played his final year in college (06-07) and UNLV for his father Lon, and has been on his dad’s staff at OU since 2016.

  • Word on the street is that Bobby Lutz has joined Fred Hoiberg’s new staff at Nebraska (and he’s already been recruiting NC hard). Lutz, the former head coach at Charlotte, had spent time on Hoiberg’s staff at Iowa State in 2010-11 before becoming an assistant at NC State.

  • I have heard that Lamar associate head coach Bobby Kummer is in the mix to join the new staff at Mercer. He has been at Lamar for the past four seasons, and has also worked at Texas A&M, Charlotte, and Appalachian State.

  • Longwood assistant Cody Anderson has left the staff and will become the head coach at Habersham Central HS (GA). The former manager at Georgia had been at Longwood since 2015.

  • I can confirm that Stetson will add a current DII head coach to Donnie Jones new staff. Will have more on this once I get the green light…

  • I have heard that the search at DIII Emory and Henry is down to two. I have heard that VMI assistant Kevin Carroll, and a current DIII head coach are the finalists. Interviews will wrap up early next week.
