• URI will announce Danny Hurley’s contract extension later today. Apparently negations heated up after he was offered the Rutgers job earlier this week (http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/916196…). The extension is reportedly going to add two years to his current deal which would extend it to 2019-20. More when this becomes official.
• I have heard from a few different coaches that former UNCW assistant Jamie Kachmarik is in the mix for the head coach spot at Ohio Dominican. Kachmarik, who was recently released from Buzz Petersons staff, has served as a DI assistant at Coastal Carolina and William & Mary. He does have Ohio roots – he is a Bowling Green alum who also served as the video coordinator at Ohio State.
• I have heard that Lamar State College-Port Arthur head coach Lance Madison has received a two-year contract extension. He just wrapped up his first year at the school with a 21-11 record.
• It sounds like Gillette College (WY) assistant Joe Kittell is involved with the open spot at Lake Region State (ND). He is a North Dakota native who worked for Tim Miles as a student at North Dakota State and served as his video coordinator at Colorado State. He has also worked at North Dakota State College of Science and Mayville State (ND).
