Daily Dirt – 4/12/19

A bunch of things going on today…

  • Is Frank Martin really considering leaving South Carolina for Cincinnati? There is a reported $12.6m buyout in play here – I’m assuming that could be an issue.

  • I have heard that former Cincinnati head coach Mick Cronin is taking Bearcats associate head coach Darren Savino, assistant coach Greg Youncofski, and staffer T.J. Wolf with him to UCLA. That could be it for UC guys making the trek out west…

  • I have heard that East Carolina staffer Tyler Lewis will become an assistant at Elon. New EU head coach Mike Schrage was an assistant at Butler during Lewis’ senior season there. Lewis spent the 2017-18 season as the Director of Recruiting at Furman before being hired at ECU last spring.

  • Billy Donlon’s new staff at UMKC will have some ACC flair to it. More on this one shortly…

  • Utah assistant DeMarlo Slocum is headed to UNLV. He had been at Utah since 2011 and has also been an assistant at Colorado State and Idaho. Before that, he was the head coach of the Las Vegas Prospects (AAU).

  • Independence CC (KS) has wrapped up interviews. A KJCCC head coach was involved here, as well as three assistants in the league. I’ve heard from a great source that an assistant from sunny south Florida is expected to be the choice here.

  • I have heard that DII Assumption College (MA) has narrowed down their search to two finalists. Sounds like this could be wrapped up next week.

  • Phone interviews at DII Gannon University (PA) are underway. I’ve been told that it’s not a large group who advanced to the phone round.

  • DIII St. Joseph’s (LI) has made their choice. I’ll have more on this one by the end of the weekend.
