Daily Dirt – 4/18/13

A few things I’ve heard so far today. Also, I have heard that two small colleges have opened – waiting for confirmation and hope to bring those to you later today (HINT: 1 in NY, 1 in MN).

• Multiple sources are reporting that Montana State head coach Brad Huse will sign a two-year contract extension pending approval by the Montana Board of Regents. It is unclear if his $113,824 will be increased or not. Huse has won 93 games in his seven seasons at MSU.

• It sounds like Richmond Co-DBO (yes, Richmond has 2 DBO’s) Peter Thomas may be headed to Campbell with Kevin McGeehan. Thomas has been at Richmond with McGeehan as both a player and a staffer. Also, I’ve heard Co-DBO Kim Lewis is in line to get bumped up to fill the vacant assistant spot on the Richmond staff. Lewis has been on the Richmond staff for the past two seasons and has also been an assistant at Texas A&M – Corpus Christi, Tulane, Duquesne, Northeastern, McNeese State, Xavier University of Louisiana and Centenary College.

• I have now heard from two separate people that Wabash Valley College head coach Dan Sparks plans to retire. Sparks, who has also been the head coach at Vincennes (IN), was inducted into the NJCAA Hall of Fame in 2000. He also had brief stints in the NBA as a player and coach.
