DAILY DIRT – 4/2/24

Story: Adam Nelson (@HD_DirtKing)

A few things that I’ve heard…

Multiple sources are saying that South Alabama head coach Richie Riley is the leader at Morehead State. Riley served as an assistant coach at NAIA Pikeville from 2006-09 when Morehead AD Kelly Wells was the head coach there. In addition to his six seasons as the head coach at South Alabama (110-83), RIley also spent two years as the head coach at Nicholls State, and has served as an assistant at Clemson and UAB. Working on more names as we speak.

Sounds like final interviews are wrapping up at USC Upstate. Names that I’ve heard are: current USC Upstate associate head coach Andrew Garcia, former Coastal Carolina interim head coach Benny Moss, Virginia Tech assistant Kevin Giltner, Furman associate head coach Jeremy Growe, and two current D2 head coaches from the area.

Gannon’s Jordan Fee was believed to be a front runner at Canisius, but now it’s looking like he’s headed to Florida Atlantic as an assistant. Here’s what some of the list at Canisius looks like now: NJIT assistant RaShawn Stores, George Mason assistant Steve Curran, Swarthmore head coach Landry Kosmalski, and least one other D3 head coach from New England. More names as I hear them.

Pat Eberhart is no longer an assistant at South Dakota. He had been on the Coyotes staff for the past two seasons after spending the previous seasons at Omaha.

Phillip Pearson is no longer on the staff at UAB. The coaching veteran had been with Andy Kennedy for the past four seasons and has also worked at Alabama, Georgia, Mercer, Murray State, and Little Rock.

I have heard that D2 Nebraska Kearney is done. The names that I have heard who interviewed are Adam Bohac (head coach Central Missouri – a Nebraska native), Marty Levinson (head coach Trinity Valley – Nebraska Kearney alum), Matt Murken (head coach Minot State), and a head coach from the Lone Star Conference. Word on the street is that Levinson is the leader here and an announcement could be made soon.

Working on….names at D2 Rockhurst (I think I have a bunch), plus working to confirm openings at two pretty good D1 JUCO’s. Stay tuned…

FYI to those headed to Phoenix this week…
