Daily Dirt – 4/22/19

Busy day today….just getting caught up now. Here are a few things…

Richmond will promote DBO Steve Thomas to assistant coach. He will be replacing Kim Lewis who left to become an assistant at Mercer. Before joining the Spiders staff in 2015, he had served as a staffer at Virginia Tech and Oregon.

Speaking of Mercer…I have heard the former Mercer assistant is the leader at DII Coker College, and could be officially named as the head coach tomorrow. He had spent the past four years on Bob Hoffman’s staff, and was not retained when Greg Gary took over a few weeks ago.

Bobby Hurley recently lost a couple of assistant coaches. Anthony Coleman is headed to Colorado while Drazen Zlovaric has resigned No word yet on possible replacements.

I have heard that DII Eckerd College will name a new head coach this week. It sounds like current associate head coach Chief Bryant is the leader, but there were at least two other finalists.

I have heard that a Vincent Mennino has resigned as the head coach at NAIA Lindenwood University -Belleville (IL). He had been at the school for the past two seasons. More on this one when it becomes official.

It’s crazy that DIII Connecticut College still has not named a head coach since Tom Satran resigned back on November 24th. Back on 3/19, I mentioned that former Fairfield assistant Tyson Wheeler was involved here. I’ve also heard that former Brown and Penn head coach Glen Miller was involved, then wasn’t, but now may be again. He had been the head coach at Conn College from 199-99, and also worked as an assistant t UConn. He is currently working for Jim Calhoun at St. Joe’s (CT). Sounds like this search will finally wrap-up shortly.
