Today’s “Daily Dirt”…..
Quick catch-up on some rumors from yesterday….
In yesterday’s first Daily Dirt (http://www.hoopdirt.com/blog/4db77d08/daily-dirt-4-23-12/…), I mentioned that St. Cloud State assistant Dan DeWitt was in the mix at Mayville State – he has now been officially hired. Here’s the official release from this morning: http://www.mayvillestate.edu/Lists/News/DispForm.aspx?ID=141…
In the same blog yesterday, I talked about St. Andrew’s coach Richie Schueler who was involved at Mars Hill and Chowan. My last line was “I’ve been told by multiple sources to keep an eye on the situation at St. Andrews ….” Looks like our sources were on the money again! Late last night, St. Andrew’s released a statement saying that Schueler had resigned. Apparently he is going to work in broadcasting, and with a recruiting service. Here’s the official release: http://www.sapc.edu/athletics/basketball/releases/201112/35s…
Now some new stuff….
I’ve heard that Dartmouth assistant Joe Gallo is in the mix for an ops job at Rutgers. Gallo and Rutgers head coach Mike Rice are both former Hoop Group staffers. Rice is currently looking to replace Jim Carr who departed earlier this month for an assistant spot on Dan Hurley’s staff at URI.
Yesterday I mentioned that in the “Daily Dirt II” that former Carroll head Dave Schultz (currently the head coach at Waukesha West HS) had interviewed for the Ripon job (http://hoopdirt.com/blog/5d385423/daily-dirt-ii-4-23-12/…). I have now heard of two other candidates who have interviewed. Two separate sources have confirmed that Ryan Kane (assistant at Loras), and Pat McKenzie (assistant at Saint John’s [MN] ) have had on campus interviews. There have been a few other names mentioned, but these are the ones that I keep hearing. I have not heard the timetable on this one, but I would imagine that the hiring will occur soon.
It sounds like there are at least three finalists for the Central Georgia Technical College job. The names that I have heard are: Coastal Georgia College assistant James Frey, Middle Georgia College assistant Shaun Haggerty, and Georgia Southwestern assistant Stephen Cox. Who knew that there were so many directional colleges in Georgia!
