Daily Dirt – 4/25/18

A few things that I’ve heard…

  • Grand Canyon head coach Dan Majerle has confirmed that Louis Wilson will be joining his staff. Johnson had spent the past three seasons as an assistant at Utah State, and was the head coach at DII Adams State before that. He will replace Todd Lee who became the head coach at South Dakota earlier this spring. The official announcement is expected today.

  • I have  heard that former USC Upstate head coach Kyle Perry is involved with an assistant spot on Mike Morrell’s new staff at UNC Asheville. Perry took over as the head coach at Upstate in October after the sudden retirement of Eddie Payne, and was released following the season.

  • Boise State head coach Leon Rice will add former Utah State head coach Tim Duryea to his staff (confirmed by the Idaho Statesman). Duryea went 47-49 in his three seasons as the head coach at USU. He had spent 14 seasons as an assistant at the school before taking over back in 2015. Duryea replaces Phil Beckner who departed a few weeks ago for a yet-to-be announced spot at the professional level.

  • I have heard that Mercer will promote graduate assistant Elvis Kisonas to Director of Basketball Operations. He would replace Josh Davis who joined former Mercer assistant Jason Eaker’s new staff at Oklahoma Baptist University.

  • Speaking of Oklahoma Baptist…Former OBU head coach Quinn Wooldridge has been named as the as the basketball coach at Bethany HS (OK). He had been the head coach at OBU for the past three seasons and was the head coach at Southwestern Christian University before that.
