DAILY DIRT – 4/25/24

Story: Adam Nelson (@HD_DirtKing)

Earlier today, I mentioned that Coe College head coach Bryan Martin had resigned and would take an unnamed D1 assistant job. It now sounds like he will be headed to USC Upstate where he will join new head coach Marty Richter’s staff. Martin, who went 166-134 (.553) during his tenure at Coe, has previously worked on the staffs at North Dakota, South Dakota, Indian Hills CC, and Simpson College. He also spent time as the head coach at North Iowa Area Community College.

I can confirm that NAIA Ottawa University Arizona will open (again), as Cale Brubaker is headed to Northwest Missouri State where he will join Matt Keeley’s staff. Brubaker had served on Keeley’s staff at OUAZ since 2021 as an assistant, and was elevated to interim head coach at the school on 4/14 after Keely departed for Northwest. Prior to his time at OUAZ, Brubaker had spent five seasons on the staff at UTSA as a GA and later Video Coordinator. More on this one once it’s made official.

Multiple sources have told me that they expect Darrin Wallace to be promoted to head coach at NJCAA D1 Florida SouthWestern. Wallace had been an assistant on Eric Murphy’s staff at FSW for the past four seasons (Murphy became an assistant at Western Kentucky earlier this week). Wallace was also an assistant for the Bucs from 2016-18, and coached HS basketball in Florida between stints at FSW. Sounds like this could be done soon.

D3 Emmanuel College assistant coach Lambros Papalambros has taken over as the head coach at Noble and Greenough School (MA). Papalambros had been at Emmanuel since 2021 and also worked at Regis College and his alma mater Curry College. He also coaches with the Middlesex Magic (AAU).
