Daily Dirt – 4/27/11

Today’s buzz….all from the Left Coast….

Former Wyoming head coach Heath Schroyer is going to join Dave Rice’s staff at UNLV. Schroyer was released at Wyoming after going 49-68 in four seasons. My source tells me that he is signing a contract today, and an official announcement could be made this afternoon.

Rodney Terry is in the process of filling his staff at Fresno State. So far, Miami assistant Michael Schwartz has been added to the staff. He had spent the past six seasons at Miami. Also, Winston-Salem State assistant Byron Jones is in the mix for a spot here. He and Terry both worked at UNC-Wilmington. New Mexico DBO Duane Broussard was rumored to be headed to Fresno as well, be he instead accepted a promotion to assistant coach at New Mexico (see last night’s blog).

Rod Barnes will hire Jeff Conarroe and Kevin Missouri as assistants at Cal-Bakersfield. Conarroe served as Barnes’ director of basketball operations for the last four seasons at Georgia State. He was also a graduate assistant on Barnes’ staff at Ole Miss from 2003-06. Missouri has bounced around at a bunch of places, but was at Fresno State during Jerry Tarkanian’s last two seasons there. He was most recently at Alabama-Birmingham in an administrative role.
