A few things that I’ve heard…
The search to replace Greg Herenda at FDU is already moving. Tough search here – a lot of guys concerned about the salary and the fact that there are only 2 paid assistants. It sounds like the early list includes; Princeton Associate Head Coach Brett MacConnell, former Princeton + Fairfield head coach Sydney Johnson, former FDU assistant Bruce Hamburger, and Fordham assistant Tray Woodall. A former D1 head coach and at least 2 A-10 assistants lurking, but sounds like this is the early group.
No secret here – Keith Urgo is expected to be elevated to head coach at Fordham replacing Kyle Neptune (Villanova). I listed Urgo as the heavy favorite (3/2 odds – FORDHAM SEARCH ODDS) on Monday morning. Official announcement expected before the end of the week.
On Monday, I confirmed that Campbell assistant Kenneth White had joined the staff at Chattanooga. I can now also confirm that Tom Kiely has been added as the Director of Basketball Operations. He had spent the past four seasons in a similar role under new Chattanooga head coach Dan Earl at VMI. An official announcement on both of these moves is expected shortly.
Interviews have been scheduled at NJCAA D1 Panola College. The names that I’ve heard here are; Coffeyville CC assistant Kyle Campbell, current Panola assistant Charlie Hurd, former Panola assistant Todd Shelton (also involved with an open spot at Sam Houston), a current NAIA head coach from TX, A current JUCO head coach from TX, and a current JUCO head coach from KS. Sounds like these will get underway next week.
