Here are a few things that I’ve heard…
• Good friend Ryan Restivo over at Big Apple Buckets (nybuckets.com) has confirmed what we heard earlier in the week surrounding the Niagara staff. We had reported on 4/24 that former Marist assistant Will Lanier will be joining Chris Casey’s new staff (http://hoopdirt.com/blog/86e64a12/daily-dirt-ii-4-24-13/…). It now sounds like he will be joined at Niagara by Mark Rybczyk, Kareem Brown, and R.J. Rutledge. All three were on Casey’s staff at LIU Post last year. Rybczyk and Brown will be assistants at Niagara, while Rutledge will become the DBO.
• From a very good source…Motlow College (TN) head coach Jerry Nichols is headed to Southwest CC (TN). It sounds like he will be officially named as the head coach there sometime this week. In his four seasons at Motlow, he compiled a 80-31 record including a 26-4 campaign this season.
• Multiple sources have told me that Wesleyan University (CT) assistant Tim Lane will become the head coach at the Hotchkiss School (CT). He has been at Wesleyan for the past three seasons, and was an assistant at Dartmouth before that. He is the first of many DIII assistants who will accept prep school jobs in the coming weeks. I’ve got it from great source that 3-4 other prep schools will fill their jobs with high academic DIII assistants.
• I have heard that Chad Brashears will be hired as an assistant at Shenandoah University. He had been an assistant at Hagerstown CC (MD) and served as the head coach at St. Maria Goretti HS (MD) from 2008-2010.
