DAILY DIRT – 4/5/24

Story: Adam Nelson (@HD_DirtKing)

Been a busy week. Here are just a few quick things to kick off the day…

It sounds like Ryan Davis, who just resigned as the head coach at D3 Lake Forest College (IL) will be hired as an assistant on Rob Eshan’s new staff at UIC. Davis had been the head coach at LFC for the past three seasons, and had been an assistant at the school since 2015. The Illinois native played at the University of Chicago.

I have heard that Lamar Chapman will be hired as an assistant at Detroit Mercy. Currently the head coach at Caledonia HS (MI), Chapman previously served as the associate head coach at Northern Illinois under new Detroit Mercy head coach Mark Montgomery. Chapman has also worked as an assistant at Stony Brook, Central Connecticut, Toledo, and Central Michigan.

Bill Peterson has departed the basketball staff at Baylor. He had been on the Bears staff for the past seven seasons, first serving as the DBO, and holding the position of Special Assistant to the Head Coach for the last five years. Prior ot his time at Baylor, he was the head coach of the NBA G-League’s Erie BayHawks, and spent 2007-13 as an assistant with the Milwaukee Bucks. No word yet on a landing spot for him.

Dean Oliver announced on social media that he will not be returning to Wisconsin as an assistant coach. Oliver had been at Wisconsin since 2017, and also worked as an assistant at Illinois State and North Dakota. Following his graduation from Iowa, Oliver played for the Golden State Warriors for two seasons before embarking on an overseas career.
