Daily Dirt – 4/11/17

Today’s “Dirt”…

  • It sounds like Texas Southern Associate Head Coach Donnie Marsh is the leader at Alabama A&M. Other named that I’ve heard here are NC A&T assistant Will Jones and former Houston assistant Talvin Hester. I have heard that an announcement is expected here tomorrow.
  • I have heard that the search at Coppin State is now down to 4-5 candidates, and on-campus interviews are beginning this week. It sounds like Larry Stewart and Brian Ellerbe, both assistants from cross-town rival Morgan State, will get interviews. Apparently some have been scared off here because there is talk of Coppin State going DII. More on this as I hear it.
  • I can can confirm that former Missouri assistant Rob Fulford has joined John Groce’s staff at Akron. He was at Mizzou for the past three seasons, and was a very successful prep coach before that. It sounds like long-time Groce assistant Dustin Ford is headed to Akron as well. He has been part of Groce staff at both Illinois and Ohio.
  • I have heard that Keith Dambrot will bring his entire staff from Akron with him to Duquesene. This includes assistant coaches Rick McFadden, Terry Weigand, and Charles Thomas as well as DBO Steve McNees. Also, video coordinator Eric Harper will be making the move from Akron to Duquesne, and I have heard that Dambrot will add former Akron player Brian Walsh in an administrative role. He was most recently at Dayton as the assistant DBO.
