Daily Dirt – 4/26/17

A few things I’ve heard…

  • It sounds like interviews at Presbyterian will start tomorrow. I’ve heard that the first guy up will be current Blue Hose interim head coach John Reynolds. He has been at Presbyterian for the past four seasons, and assumed the interim title earlier this month when Gregg Nibert resigned. Word on the street is that there is another interview scheduled for Friday, with one or two more coming next week.

  • New Southern head coach Morris Scott will add Chrys Cornelius to his staff. Cornelius was most recently an assistant at Bethune-Cookman and has also worked at Green Bay, Eastern Illinois, Western Illinois, Chicago State, and Florida A&M. An official announcement is expected shortly.

  • According to a report by Jon Rothstein, Georgetown’s Patrick Ewing will add Robert Kirby to his staff. Kirby served as an assistant to JT3 with the Hoyas from 2010-12. He has also been an assistant at LSU, Mississippi State, and Memphis.

  • I have heard that Jesse Wukasch has joined Joe Mazzulla’s new staff at DII Fairmont State. He had spent the past three seasons as an assistant Wheeling Jesuit and has also spent time at Bethany College. Before his small college experience, Wukasch served as an assistant at New Orleans, and the video coordinator at Southern Mississippi.

  • NJCAA DIII Ben Franklin Institute (MA) will be restarting their basketball team for the 2017-18 season. I have heard that there are a number of local assistants as well as at least two former DIII head coaches involved. Sounds like interviews will begin shortly.

  • If you’re recruiting New England prep kids…Vermont Academy assistant Josh Cabrera has accepted the job as the head coach at the Kent School (CT). Before joining Alex Popp’s staff prior to last season at VA, he was the head coach at the Gunnery School (CT).
