A bunch of assistants on the move today….

Texas State assistant Terrace Rencher will join the staff at Tulsa. The official announcement is expected today. Rencher is the all-time leading scorer at Texas, and has been at Texas State for the past two seasons. He joins former Colgate head coach Emmett Davis as new members of the Tulsa staff.

I’ve heard that David Peavy (Head Coach at Austin Akins HS) is a candidate to replace Rencher at Texas State.

Jeremy Cox has left South Florida and will join Doc Sadler’s staff at Nebraska. Cox was an assistant to Sadler at Arkansas-Ft. Smith, and became the head coach there when Sadler left to join Billy Gillispie at UTEP. Cox also worked for Gillispie at Kentucky and Texas A&M.

Look for South Florida head coach Stan Heath to promote from within by bumping up Andy Hipsher to assistant coach and moving Anthony Brammer from video coordinator to Director of Basketball Operations.

I’ve also heard that Xavier Director of Operations Brian Thornton will accept an assistant spot at Furman. Thornton played for Sean Miller at Xavier, and has been on the staff there for the past two seasons.

It sounds like Xavier will promote graduate assistant Jeremy Growe to DBO to replace Thornton. They will also bring in former IPFW star Ben Botts as the graduate program assistant to replace Growe.

Midland College head coach Ross Hodge has departed to become an assistant at Southern Mississippi. Hodge has a 146-24 record in 6 seasons as a JC head coach (Midland JC and Paris JC). He replaces Greg Heiar who accepted a similar position at Wichita State.
