A few things to start off the week…
- Kenny Johnson is out as an assistant at LaSalle. The former Indiana, Louisville, and Towson assistant had been on the Explorers staff since 2018. Johnson helped run Team Takeover (DC) AAU before working at the college level.
- Jason Shay will add Turner Battle as an assistant and Chad Donley as the DBO to his staff at ETSU. Battle was most recently the associate head coach at UAB, and has also been an assistant at Buffalo and Chattanooga. Donley has been at Daytona State for the past two seasons and is a former GA at ETSU. He played for Shay and Steve Forbes at Northwest Florida.
- D3 Whitman College is down to three finalists. I’ve heard from a bunch of people on this one. Sounds like the final group consists of: an NAIA head coach from out of the region (Waaaay out of the region), a current head coach from in Whitman’s conference, and former Pepperdine assistant Mark Amaral. More on this as I hear it.
- NAIA Florida College will add Jesse Repay and Robert Rayle to their men’s basketball staff. Repay has spent the past five seasons as an assistant at NAIA Eastern Oregon. Rayle served as a graduate assistant at D2 Carson-Newman for the past two years. More on these hires when they become official.
