Just a few quick Friday tidbits…

Siena has bumped Derek Brooks from director of basketball operations to assistant coach. Last season was Brooks’ first at Siena, he has also been an assistant at Merchant Marine, and served as a WBB assistant at Air Force. Current special assistant to the head coach Jonathan Pickett will be elevated to the DBO spot replacing Brooks. Pickett has been on Carmen Maciariello staff for the past two seasons, and worked in an administrative role at Albany before that.

Chattanooga assistant Kenneth White has departed Dan Earl’s staff and has become the head coach at Boyd Buchanan high school (TN). Last season was his first at Chattanooga, after spending the previous seven at Campbell.

Interesting new gig for former Virginia Tech head coach James Johnson, as he returns to VT as the director of high school relations for the Hokies football team. Johnson served as the head coach in Blacksburg from 2012-14, and was an assistant on Seth Greenberg’s staff from 2007-12. He was most recently an assistant coach at NC State.

Cooper Neimand has resigned as an assistant at D2 powerhouse Lincoln Memorial for a job outside of college basketball. Neimand had been at LMU since 2019, and was elevated to the full-time assistant role back in 2021. No word yet on a replacement.
