Daily Dirt – 5/14/18

A bunch of things to kick off the week…

  • It sounds like the final two at Cal State Bernardino are both current DII head coaches. I have heard from multiple sources that the leader here is UT Permian Basin head coach Andy Newman. This one will be done this week.

  • I have heard that Former Montana State Billings head coach Jamie Stevens will become an assistant Northern State (SD). Stevens resigned at MSUB back in March after seven years on the job.

  • New Oklahoma Panhandle State head coach Aaron Coombs will add Cole Clearman to his staff as an assistant coach. Clearman played at Missouri Western State when Coombs was an assistant there. An official announcement is expected shortly.

  • DII Winston-Salem State is down to four candidates in their search to replace James Wilhelmi. One of the final four is current assistant Andrew Brown. It sounds like this one could be wrapped up by the end of the week.

  • Phone interviews at DIII Vassar College wrapped up last week, with on-campus interviews beginning this week. Of the five candidates that I’ve heard, there is a DI assistant, a DIII head coach, and three DIII assistants headed to Poughkeepsie to interview. More as I hear it.

  • ICYMI from this weekend: Central Baptist College (AR) will name Clint Galyean as their new head basketball coach. More here: NAIA DIRT.
