Daily Dirt – 5/18/23

Story: Adam Nelson (@HD_DirtKing)

Former LSU Alexandria head coach Larry Cordaro has landed as the DBO at Troy. During Cordaro’s nine year tenure at LSUA, he compiled a record of 224-50 (.818), overall conference record of 126-23 (.846). Prior to his time in Alexandria, Cordaro served as the associate head coach at Southeastern Louisiana (2006-13) an assistant coach at UTA (2004-06), and as a GA at LSU (2001-04). An official announcement is expected shortly.

Multiple sources have told me that former Idaho assistant Kenny Tripp is the leader at D2 Adams State, and this could be done this week. Tripp had been at Idaho for the past four seasons, and was not retained when Zac Claus was released earlier this spring. He has also worked at as the ops coordinator at Washington State and as and assistant at MSU Denver.

D3 Willamette University (OR) has wrapped up their search for a new head coach. Finalists were a former D1 head coach, a current D3 head coach, and a current D3 assistant. I believe I have the name of the coach who got it – will run with it shortly.

I have heard that interviews wrapped up on Tuesday at NJCAA D1 Yavapai College. Sounds like a decision will be made by the end of the week. As I mentioned in an earlier DIRT, I believe there were 3-5 finalists, and all the names that I heard were current JUCO head coaches. *UPDATE: Heard the choice is a current JUCO assistant from Kansas who has also worked at the D1 level. Will roll with it shortly*

I can confirm that Kevin Harrington is no longer the head coach at Johnson and Wales Charlotte. Last season was his first as the head coach at JWU after spending the previous season as an assistant with the program. Harrington led the Wildcats to a 12-15 record last season.
