Daily Dirt – 5/2/11

Some early week "dirt"….

The new staff at Towson is complete. URI assistant Kevin Clark has already been officially announced as an assistant. The other staff members will be Kenny Johnson, Luke Murray, and Duane Simpkins. Johnson and Murray both have strong AAU ties (Johnson in Maryland / DC, Murray in New York / New England). They will serve as assistants. Simpkins, a former guard at Maryland will serve as the DBO. He has been the head coach at local prep schools St. Albans and Sidwell Friends. Expect the official announcement any day.

I’ve heard that LaGrange College is close to hiring their next head coach. It sounds like Maryville College assistant Kendal Wallace is involved here and could be the leader. He has been a full-time assistant at MC for the past five seasons – they are in the same conference (GSAC) as LaGrange, so he obviously knows the league.

According to a source, Earlham College is also nearing the end of their search. There were close to 300 applications for the position, and the list has now been narrowed to five. Some of the candidates interviewed on campus last week, and the remaining ones will visit this week. The goal is to have the new head coach in place by May 15th.
