Daily Dirt – 5/20/13

Some "dirt" to kick off the week…

• I have heard that Wright State assistant Chris Moore is in the mix for an assistant spot at Nebraska. It sounds like he interviewed late last week to fill Ben Johnson’s spot on Tim Miles staff. Johnson departed earlier this spring for Minnesota. Moore has spent the past three seasons at Wright State and had been an assistant at Morehead State before that. I believe that he is one of three finalists for the position.

• Multiple sources have told me that LIU Brooklyn DBO Josh Pelletier will assume a similar role at Duquesne. Pelletier just completed his first season at LIU and was a GA at Albany before that.

• Word on the street is the Farmingdale State (NY) head coach Erik Smiles is the leader to replace Chris Casey as the head coach at LIU Post. Casey became the head coach at Niagara last month. Smiles has put together a 182-72 record (20-8 this season) during his nine years at Farmingdale State.

• Two separate sources have told me that Tom Devitt is no longer the head coach at Wentworth Institute of Technology (MA). He had been at the helm for the past 11 seasons and his squad has made four consecutive ECAC Tournament appearances.

• From a great source – and confirmed from an even better source…Danville Area CC (IL) head coach Mike Carpenter has been offered the head coach position at Wabash Valley (IL). This will be made official once it is approved by the Wabash Valley board early this week. Carpenter has won 139 games over the past seven seasons at DACC including an NJCAA Final Four. More on this when it becomes official.
