Daily Dirt – 5/22/13

Here we go…

• I mentioned on Monday that Danville Area CC head coach Mike Carpenter had been offered the Wabash Valley job (http://www.hoopdirt.com/blog/6b355c82/daily-dirt-5-20-13/…). I can now confirm that he has accepted it and it has been approved by the board. Look for the official press release in the next few days.

• I have heard that Tennessee-Martin assistant Cornelius Jackson will accept a similar role at Cleveland State. He would replace Jayson Gee who became the head coach at Longwood earlier this spring. He has been at Tennessee-Martin for the past four seasons, and spent six years at West Virginia State before that.

• It sounds like Greg Hernandez will be hired as an assistant Maryville College (TN). He is a former standout at Maryville who has been playing overseas for the past few years. He would replace Alex Bowers who took a HS girls job last month.

• Mark Lieberman, who spent last season as an assistant at Florida International, has been named as the head coach at Floyd Central HS (IN). Prior to his time at FIU, he worked in various roles for Rick Pitino at Louisville. Prior to that, he was a very successful HS coach in Florida.
