A few quick search updates (and some other random stuff)…
The search at UMES is starting to move quickly. Names that I have heard include, former NC A&T, Tennessee State, and South Carolina State head coach Cy Alexander, former Hampton head coach Edward Joyner, Jr., UMass Director Of Player Development Anthony Evans (former head coach at Norfolk State and FIU), and Virginia State head coach Lonnie Blow, Jr.
It sounds like there are four finalists at D2 Newberry College (SC). I can confirm that interviews began on Monday, and have occurred everyday since then. Names that I have heard are Wingate associate head coach Marcus Kirkland, a current D1 JUCO head coach from the area, A D1 JUCO head coach from North Carolina, and an NAIA head coach from SC. More on this one as I hear it.
Still working on names at D2 St. Leo, but multiple sources have told me that associate head coach Spencer Henke is firmly in the mix. Will roll with more names as soon as I get them.
The search is on at D3 Worcester State. The hottest name making the rounds is Worcester North head coach Al Pettway. Pettway is the all-time leading scorer at WSU, and has led Worcester North HS to back-to-back Massachusetts State Championships. It’s early here though – working on more names as we speak.
Former NBA All-Star Kenny Anderson, who had spent the past five seasons as the head coach at NAIA Fisk University, has landed as the new head coach at Florida Coastal Prep Sports Academy.
Stony Brook has hired Casey Crawford as their new Director of Basketball Operations. Crawford had spent the past two seasons as a graduate assistant at Ohio, and was a manager for the Bobcats before that.
NJCAA D1 South Plains College assistant Cam Parker has joined the staff at D2 Eastern New Mexico. Parker has also been an assistant at Northwest Florida, and Butler CC (KS).
D3 Westfield State has added Rob Kelly as an assistant coach. Kelly, who also works for BallerTV, played at Wesleyan College (2007 grad).
