Daily Dirt – 5/29/13

Today’s "dirt"…

• I have heard that former Central Michigan head coach Ernie Zeigler will join Ray McCallum’s staff at Detroit. Zeigler was the head coach at CMU from 2007-12 (75-111). He has also been an assistant at UCLA, Pitt, Kansas State, and Bowling Green.

• It sounds like Presbyterian College assistant Brooks Savage is in the mix to become the DBO under new head coach Will Wade at Chattanooga. Before joining the Blue Hose staff last season, he worked as an assistant at Northwest Florida State. He also served as the video coordinator at Tulane and was a GA at Tennessee.

• Lycoming College assistant Aaron Winshall will become a graduate assistant at Miami (FL). The former Syracuse head manager spent the past two seasons with head coach Guy Rancourt at LC helping the Warriors to back-to-back championship appearances.

• Pete Froedden, who had been an assistant at Lipscomb for the past five seasons has taken a HS job. He was just named as the head coach at Wheaton Academy in Chicago. The former Lipscomb guard coached at a bunch of Tennessee high schools before joining the staff at his alma mater in 2008.

• From the “where there’s smoke there’s fire” department…Keep an eye on the situation at Mid-Continent University (KY). There is supposed to be an announcement made on their situation any day…
