Daily Dirt – 5/31/11

I hope you all had a great Memorial Day Weekend. I attended the wedding of the century – a ton of big-time coaches were there. None of us actually believed the guy that got married actually liked girls – we had to see this wedding with our own eyes to believe it! Anyway, here is some of the "dirt" that I was able to gather after I sobered up….

I can confirm that Duquesne head coach Ron Everhart will interview at Penn State today. He is 257-239 in 17 seasons as a head coach at Duquesne, Northeastern, McNeese State. I mentioned last week that ECU head coach Jeff Lebo has withdrawn his name from consideration – you can now add Drexel head coach Bruiser Flint to that list. He has said that he is not interested and will stay at Drexel.

It sounds like Eastern Michigan DBO Chris Highfield will remain on the Eagles staff. He will be the only hold-over from former head coach Charles Ramsey’s staff. He has been at EMU for the past three seasons and was at Florida Gulf Coast before that. New head coach Rob Murphy has already hired Mike Brown (South Alabama) and is still in the process of filling the other two slots.

I have heard that Former NBA player and current assistant at Henry Ford Community College (MI) Terry Mills is a finalist for the Head Men’s Basketball coaching position at Owens Community College (OH). Mills was the 16th pick in the 1990 NBA draft after a stellar career at Michigan. He spent 11 seasons in the league.

Ouachita Baptist assistant coach Sean Rutigliano has resigned and will accept a spot on the staff at Army. Prior to coaching at Ouachita for two seasons, he spent two years as assistant at Alabama-Huntsville school in the Gulf and was was a volunteer assistant coach at Kean University before that. He is a New York native.
