Daily Dirt – 5/4/12

Rolling into the weekend with some “dirt”…

• I’ve heard that Transylvania head coach Brian Lane interviewed yesterday at Morehead State. He is a former Morehead State assistant who is 191-104 in his 10-seasons at Transy. Next up is Pikeville head coach Kelly Wells followed by Mississippi Valley State head coach Sean Woods.

• Sounds like former Louisiana Tech head coach (and current Hawaii DBO) Kerry Rupp will be heading to Montana as an assistant. He would replace Bill Evans who became the head coach at Idaho State earlier this spring.

• Three separate sources have confirmed that Bemidji State head coach Matt Bowen is the choice at Minnesota-Duluth. Bowen is a former assistant at UAB and Valpo and has been at Bemidji State since 2006. The official announcement is expected as early as today.

• From a very good source…Zac Roman has resigned as the head coach at Highland CC (IL) to pursue other coaching opportunities. He was 51-16 in two years, won two Arrowhead Conference Championships and a Region 4 title this year. He was also named Arrowhead conference coach of the year the past two years as well as Region 4 coach of the year this season.
