Some Cinco De Mayo "chisme"…
• A few names are starting to surface as possible assistants at Marshall. Former Duke standout and NBA vet Chris Duhon and long-time Wake Forest assistant Jeff Battle are rumored to be in the mix. Duhon played for four teams from 2004-13 (Bulls, Knicks, Magic, and Lakers) – new Marshall head coach Dan D’Antoni was with the Lakers when Duhon played there. Battle served under three different head coaches at Wake, but will not make it to a 4th. He played at Marshall (1982-85), and was a grad assistant there for one season.
• I have heard Tennessee Director of Player Development Jareem Dowling may return to Southern Mississippi as an assistant. Dowling was on Donnie Tyndall’s staff last season as an assistant at Southern Miss and went with him to Tennessee in an administrative role a few weeks ago.
• I have heard that Fishburne Military Academy head coach Ed Huckaby is involved with the associate head coach spot at Maryland-Eastern Shore. New UMES head coach Bobby Collins and Huckaby worked together at Hampton in the early 2000’s.
