Some things that I’ve heard so far today…
• According to multiple sources, Chris Beard has been offered the Lamar State – Port Arthur job. Beard is a former Texas Tech assistant who currently coaches the South Carolina Warriors (ABA). The announcement is expected this afternoon.
• Confirming a rumor from the 4/23 edition of the Daily Dirt…Lake Land College assistant Landon Shipley has in fact accepted a spot on the staff at Missouri-St. Louis. Shipley is a St. Louis native and was named the Post-Dispatch St. Louis Metro Player of the Year as a prep senior.
• I have heard that new Martin Methodist head coach Scott Coombs has hired his first assistant. Word is that Dugan Lyne will be joining the MM staff. Lyne was a student assistant, GA, and ops guy at Austin Peay during Coombs time as an assistant there. He has been an assistant at Manchester and Westminster over the past few seasons.
