Daily Dirt – 5/9/11

A few things to start off the week….

Former DePaul head coach Jerry Wainwright is going to join Rodney Terry’s staff at Fresno State. Wainwright has also been the head coach at Richmond and UNC-Wilmington. While at UNCW, Terry was his assistant. Wainwright has 244 wins in 16 years as a DI head coach and will definitely bring experience to the Fresno State bench. My source said that he signed his contract on Friday.

I mentioned the search at Pratt CC last week. They are now down to two finalists. Current assistant Jesse Shaw and former Southern Indiana head coach Rick Herdes are the last two standing here. Apparently the search committee is split on the two. They were supposed to make a final decision this weekend and have an announcement possibly as early as today. I’ll keep you posted.

I finally have an update on some of the Maryland Junior College jobs that were open. I’ve heard that Montgomery College-Takoma Park has hired Chris DeFelice. He has been an assistant at the University of District Columbia, McNeese State, Loyola, and Long Island. Montgomery College-Rockville has hired Prince George’s CC assistant coach James Bryson. Howard CC is still searching with the hopes of hiring someone this week. It sounds like DeFelice turned them down to accept the Takoma Park gig.
