Daily Dirt – 6/11/12

Some "dirt" to start the week…

• I can confirm that UC Santa Cruz head coach Gordon Johnson has resigned. He had led the Banana Slugs for the past 10 seasons (71-160). The UC athletic department is planning on doing a national search for the part-time position, but I’ve heard that current assistant James Page has a ton of support for the job. He has been on the staff for the past nine seasons and is a UCSC alum.

• Nathan Courtney will take over as the head coach at Highland CC (IL). Courtney, who was the head coach at Meridian CC (MS), will replace Zac Roman who resigned in May. Before his time as the HC at MCC, Courtney was an assistant at Indian Hills CC (IA).

• Starting to hear a ton of names at UW Oshkosh who are seeking to replace the recently retired Ted Van Dellen. Some of the guys that I believe are involved are: Tim Gaubatz (assistant UW-Oshkosh), Aaron Aanonsen (head coach Lakeland College), Pat Juckem (head coach Coe College), Lee Rabas (head coach UW-Fox Valley), Lou Chapman (assistant coach UW-Whitewater), Dave Scultz (head coach Waukesha West HS), and Dan Weisse (assistant coach Minnesota State Moorhead). I’ve heard that the list will be narrowed down soon, and finalists brought to campus in the next few weeks.

• Ryan O’Hern has been hired as an assistant at Southeastern CC (IA). He will replace Brian Turner who resigned earlier this month after spending the past eight seasons with the program. O’Hern has been an assistant at Iowa Central CC and Iowa Wesleyan. He was most recently the AD at Notre Dame HS (IA).
