A few things that I’ve heard over the past few days….

Sounds like former Tennessee assistant Jason Shay will land a spot on Steve Forbes staff at Northwest Florida. Shay and Forbes were both assistants at UT for Bruce Pearl. Shay was also with Pearl at Wisconsin-Milwaukee and was a walk-on at Iowa when Pearl was an assistant there. From what I’ve heard, the AD just needs to approve the hire to make it official.

The latest name that I’ve heard at Boston University is Long Island University head coach Jim Ferry. Ferry has New England ties – he played at Keene State, was an assistant at Bentley, and was the head coach at Plymouth State. He was offered the Manhattan job earlier this spring, but turned it down.

North Alabama assistant James Wilhelmi and Jacksonville assistant Darryl Bruce are both in the mix to fill the vacant assistant spots at Winston-Salem State. The spots are open because Murray Garvin departed for South Carolina State and Byron Jones took a job at Fresno State.

Ohio University-Chillicothe will hire Huntington (OH) HS coach Rick Uhrig. He will replace Jason Smith who took a HS job in April. The official announcement will be made in the next week or so.
