Daily Dirt – 6/20/11

Sobering up after a long Father’s Day weekend….here’s what I’ve got….

I blogged last week that former Iowa and Butler head coach Todd Lickliter was close to joining the staff at Miami (OH). He is still the top choice at Miami, but with the resignation of Brandon Miller at Ohio State, his name has surfaced there as well. Lickliter was an assistant to Buckeye’s head coach Thad Matta at Butler before replacing him when Matta departed for OSU. This situation should be settled this week.

My source tells me that Northern Colorado assistant Chris Craig will be the choice at Midland College. Before joining the UNC staff last year he went 69-32 as the head coach at Eastern Utah. Here’s the list of the finalists that he beat out: http://hoopdirt.com/blog/887fafa8/midland-college-finalists/…

Bubba Jennings, who was a finalist at Midland, will join the staff at Texas Tech. He had worked at TTU for Bob and Pat Knight before joining the HS ranks. He will assume some type of administrative role for the Red Raiders. Also, Texas Tech Director of Video Operations Jason Imes has resigned.

Mark Linebaugh will become the DBO at Colgate. He had spent the past three seasons as the head coach at Annville-Cleona (NY) HS (45-30). He is also a Colgate alum and the 10th leading scorer in program history (1,389 points).

Another HS coach headed to the college ranks is Gatlinburg-Pittman (TN) head coach Raul Placeres – he will join the staff at Maryville College. Placeres was an all-conference guard at MC and complied an 80-40 record during his tenure at G-P.

Today we even have a coach going from college to HS….former Missouri-St. Louis head coach Chris Pilz will become the next head coach at Waynesville (MO) HS. Pilz was the head coach at UMSL from 2003-2010 going 77-114 during that time. He took this past year off from coaching and was the assistant principal at Desoto (MO) HS.
