A bunch of things to close out the week…
• I have heard that Oakland Video Coordinator / Player Development assistant James Hellekjaer will become an assistant at Saginaw Valley State. He started at Oakland in 2009 as a GA and was promoted to Video Coordinator a year later. He was a manager for the women’s team at Michigan State from 2005-2009.
• Our friends from Longwood’s “Lancers Blog” have passed along the info that they expect long-time DI head coach Tim Carter to be added to Jason Gee’s staff at LU. Carter spent 17 years as a DI head coach at Texas-San Antonio (1995-2006), and at South Carolina State (2007-2013). He has also served as an assistant at Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Houston, Northwestern, and Florida State.
• I can confirm that Mount Vernon Nazarene University (OH) head coach Matt Moore has resigned. He will become the head coach at Kokomo (IN) HS. Moore had been at MVNU since 2009, and was an assistant at Grace College (IN) before that. He also spent time as a HS assistant in Indiana.
• I have heard that Stefan Thompson will become an assistant at Wilkes University (PA). Thompson played for new Wilkes head coach Izzi Metz at Hobart where he was a 2013 NABC 2nd team All-American.
• It sounds like Manor College (PA) will name Alfred Johnson as their new head coach. Most recently, Johnson was an assistant at Valley Forge Military College, but he does have a ton of experience as a head coach. He served as the HC at St. Mary’s (MD) from 1999-2003, and also at Holy Family from 2003-2010.
• I have some very good names at Williams from some pretty good sources. Just need to dig a bit deeper before I publish the list for one of the best DIII jobs in the country.
