Daily Dirt – 6/27/13

Sorry for not updating the “Dirt” yesterday – I was at a charity golf outing. Not a bad day on the course. Unfortunately, the two best balls I hit all day were when I stepped on the rake. Anyway…here’s what I’ve heard over the past few days…

• Queens College (NY) will name their new head coach today at 10:00am. I mentioned the two finalists earlier this week (http://www.hoopdirt.com/blog/273b2f41/daily-dirt-6-25-13/…). I have heard from two sources that the choice is not the guy from Vermont. More on this after the announcement – you can watch live here: http://www.ihigh.com/queenscollege/broadcast_301845.html?sil…

• I can confirm that Chance Jones will be the next head coach at Black Hawk East College (IL). Jones had spent the past three seasons as the head coach at Galva (HS). He replaces B.J. McCullum who resigned earlier this year due to health reasons.

• I have heard that Sean Sweeney will become an assistant at Georgia Southwestern. He spent this past season as an assistant at Francis Marion and was the DBO at Charleston Southern in 2010-11. Sweeney will replace Will Monts who became the head coach at Warren Wilson (NC) earlier this spring.

• We currently have a job posting for the head coach at Centenary College posted on our site (http://www.hoopdirt.com/job/42da93a0/head-coach-centenary-co…). This is the Centenary College in NJ, not the one in Louisiana. Apparently the one in Louisiana has been getting a ton of calls about this one – please stop bothering them! We have changed the ad to now read Centenary College (NJ).
