Daily Dirt – 6/29/12

• Two separate sources have confirmed that Cole Pittis has been named DBO at Bradley. I first mentioned that he was involved with this gig in 6/18 (http://hoopdirt.com/blog/cf301a81/daily-dirt-6-18-12/…). Now sounds like it’s a done deal. The former Mt. Union assistant played for current Bradley HC Geno Ford at Muskingum.

• Nick Lagroone has been hired as the GA at Mississippi State. He is a former standout at Southern Wesleyan (SC) where he scored 1,645 points and was a two-time NAIA Honorable Mention All-American. He has most recently been coaching HS basketball.

• Former Ole Miss GA Kyle Church has been hired as an assistant at Chipola JC. This happened earlier this month, but I just heard it. He is a former walk-on at Charlotte (2006-10).

• Former Winthrop assistant Larry Dixon has been named head coach at York Comprehensive HS (SC). He had been on the staff at Winthrop for the past five seasons. He has also been an assistant at St. Andrews, South Carolina State, and East Carolina.

• Derrick Owens has been named as an assistant at Kuyper College (MI). He spent the past two seasons as an assistant at Jackson Community College. Owens played his high school ball in the Detroit area (West Bloomfield) and then spent four years at Siena Heights University.

• In my last blog, I mentioned that Dustin Alpert would become the GA at Texas-Pan American. Apparently I was wrong…he will be the DBO, not the GA.
