From the HD World Headquarters…
• Quick exit for Jeff Bower at Marist. Some names floating around, but nothing worth publishing. It will be an interesting situation…the AD is feeling some heat with this one.
• I can confirm that Travis Garrett is no longer the head coach at USC-Salkehatchie. Garrett had been at Salk for the past seven seasons. He was has also been an assistant at Northeastern, Bethune-Cookman and Chipola. No word yet on his successor.
• Yesterday, I mentioned two names that have interviewed for the vacancy at Jamestown (ND) (http://www.hoopdirt.com/blog/33dd121a/daily-dirt-6-2-14/…“>http://www.hoopdirt.com/blog/33dd121a/daily-dirt-6-2-14/……). I now have three more names to add to that list: Hibbing CC (MN) head coach Matt Johnson, Lake Region State (ND) head coach Joe Kittell, and University of Sioux Falls assistant Nate Kaeding. I can confirm that at least one candidate was on campus yesterday, and one will be there today.
• Another follow up from yesterday…I said that I heard Southern assistant Ryan Price was headed to Prairie View A&M (http://www.hoopdirt.com/blog/33dd121a/daily-dirt-6-2-14/…“>http://www.hoopdirt.com/blog/33dd121a/daily-dirt-6-2-14/……). I can now confirm that and have also heard that Emporia State (KS) assistant Keenan Curry is headed to PVAM as well. Curry just wrapped up his first season at Emporia State, and was an assistant at Fort Scott CC (KS) before that. Also, I have heard that PVAM assistant Jethro Hillman may in fact be headed to Southern – if that is the case, it looks like we have a trade…Price for Hillman. Don’t see that too often. More on this as I get confirmation.
• I have heard that former West Virginia manager James Haring has become a graduate assistant at Illinois. The Illinois native had been working as a student for Bob Huggins since 2010.
• From the Detroit news…Former Detroit assistant Carlos Briggs had his lawsuit against the university dismissed. He had claimed that he was retaliated against and was subjected to a hostile work environment after reporting an affair between a fellow assistant coach at the AD at the time.
