Daily Dirt – 6/4/13

Today’s "dirt"…

• I mentioned a few weeks ago that I had heard that former Georgia Southern head coach Charlton Young was involved with a spot at South Florida. I have now heard from several sources that he is also involved at Florida State as a possible replacement for Corey Williams (just became the head coach at Stetson). Some feel that this could get done in the next few days.

• I have heard that Jeremy Cox is involved with an assistant position at Louisiana Lafayette. Cox had worked for Billy Gillispie at Texas A&M, Kentucky, and most recently Texas Tech. He has also been an assistant at Nebraska and South Florida, and the head coach at North Dakota State, Garden City CC, and Arkansas Ft. Smith.

• It sounds like Steve Enright will become the assistant DBO at URI. He spent last season as an assistant at Pfeiffer (NC) and has also worked at Endicott (MA), and Mt. Ida (MA).

• I mentioned this last week as a rumor, but now wanted to confirm it…Dajuan Gouard has been named head coach at Danville Area Community College (IL). He is from the area and played collegiately at Loyola University (IL). He was an assistant to Mike Carpenter who departed for Wabash Valley.

• Quick update on my Kansas City Kansas CC blog from last night (http://www.hoopdirt.com/blog/eac40f23/kansas-city-kansas-cc-…). You can scratch Avila head coach Rodney Perry and KCKCC assistant Bill Sloan off of the list, BUT add KCKCC interim assistant Eric Nitsche and William Jewell assistant coach Matt Sligh to the list. It appears that the candidates listed have participated in on-campus interviews – a part of which was leading some of the players through a work-out. There is one candidate on campus today, and a decision is expected within the next few weeks.
