Stanford Staff Addition
I have heard that former Princeton associate head coach Brett MacConnell will be added to the Stanford basketball staff. MacConnell had been at Princeton since 2012 before a staff shake-up this past spring. The veteran assistant had been part of four Ivy League Championship teams, and helped lead the Tigers to the 2023 Sweet Sixteen.
…And One Out at Stanford
Speaking of Stanford…it sounds like Cardinal assistant Derrick Wrobel is on the move and will land at Grand Canyon. Last season was Wrobel’s first at Stanford following a three year run at Washington State. Wrobel also spent five seasons at Arizona State, his alma mater, as the team’s director of operations under head coach Bobby Hurley, and also spent four years on the staff at Cal.
Brady on the Move
I have heard that High Point assistant Matt Brady will become an assistant at Boston University. Brady is the former head coach at Marist (2004-08) and James Madison (2008-16). He also spent the latter part of the 2023-24 season as the interim head coach at DePaul. The veteran coach has been an assistant at Maryland, Oklahoma, Temple, LaSalle, URI, Wagner, and St. Joes.
New Face at UMass Lowell
Octavious Hinnant will join the staff at UMass Lowell. Hinnant, the brother of former UMass Lowell assistant Louis Hinnant (now at George Mason), has most recently served as an assistant at Bishop O’Connell HS in Arlington, Va.
Bradley Back in Berkeley
Former Cal guard Matt Bradley has joined the Golden Bears staff as a graduate assistant. Bradley, who was a 2X Pac-12 second teamer, transferred to San Diego State for his final two seasons, and was a member of the Aztecs squad that advanced to the 2023 National Championship game vs UConn.
Rising Coaches Co-Founder Joins Klutch
Big-time move for former college assistant and Rising Coaches co-founder Adam Gordon as he has taken a job with Klutch Sports as an agent for college coaches and executives. Gordon had spent time at Clemson, Mississippi State, Northern Colorado, and SEMO, and was most recently the VP of Athletics at Renaissance Search and Consulting.
D2 Search Heating Up
Interviews are underway at D2 Coker University (SC). I can confirm that two current head coaches from the area have already been in. I have also heard Longwood associate head coach Marty McGillian’s name mentioned here. Working on other names now, but sounds like this one could be wrapped up this week. Coker is looking to replace Mike Lamberti who departed for West Liberty a few weeks ago.
D2 Illinois Springfield Adds Assistant
Zack Jadzak has become an assistant at D2 Illinois Springfield. Jadzak spent last season on the staff at lllinois College, and was an assistant at Buena Vista for four years before that. He has also worked at North Central, Aurora, and Blackburn. An official announcement is expected shortly.
D3 Departure
From earlier today…Jake Scott will step down as the head coach at D3 Keuka College (NY). More here: D3 DIRT.
