Daily Dirt – 7/1/13

Here’s the "dirt" for the first day of July…

• I have heard from two separate sources that St. Peter’s will hire former Mt. St. Mary’s assistant Matt Henry to replace assistant Bruce Hamburger (departed for FDU). Henry served as the interim head coach for stretch at MSM in 2012 and has also been the DBO at Georgetown.

• Terry Primm, who was released as the head coach at Palm Beach Atlantic earlier this spring has landed on his feet. He has been named as the head coach at American Heritage HS (FL). He went 36-125 during his six seasons at PBA. He was replaced in April by Dave Balza (http://hoopdirt.com/news/56028eb3/palm-beach-atlantic-hires-…).

• Staying in Florida…I can confirm that Elliot Washington has been named as the head coach at State College of Florida. He will replace Brock Erickson who resigned earlier this month to join the staff at Iona (http://www.hoopdirt.com/news/771c958d/erickson-named-assista…). Washington has spent the past 14 seasons as the head coach at Southeast High (FL) and was named as the FL Class 5A Coach of the Year. He played at Manatee Community College which has now become State College of Florida.

• From a very good source…Murray State (OK) head coach Randy Rutherford is out and has been replaced by Southeastern Oklahoma State assistant Chris McGill. McGill has spent the past three seasons at Southeastern, and has also been an assistant at Missouri Valley College, Highland University, and Brookhaven College.
