Some things that I’ve heard….
- I can confirm that Mike Nesbitt has been hired as an assistant coach at Panola College (TX). He replaces Adam Blaylock who became an assistant at IPFW earlier this month. Nesbitt has previously served as a special assistant at Southern Utah under Todd Simon and a as graduate assistant at the University of New Mexico before that.
- Donte Davis has become an assistant coach at Owens CC (OH) on new head coach Bruce Johnson’s staff. He had spent the past two seasons in an administrative role at Longwood University. Kyle Ernst will remain with on the Express staff as volunteer assistant.
- There has been a coaching change made at Kellogg CC (MI). Ben Reed is out and Gary Sprague is in. Reed had been the head coach at KCC since 2015 and was an assistant at the school for three seasons before that. Sprague spent 21-seasons as the head coach at Gull Lake HS (MI).
- New Rhode Island College head coach Tom Glynn will hire Rob Nelson and Mark Holmes as assistant coaches, and retain current assistant Daniel Jones. Nelson spent last season as an assistant at WPI and has also worked at Pine Manor College (MA) and Regis College (MA). Holmes was most recently an assistant at Milton Academy (MA), and also has worked at the college level Emmanuel College (MA) and Framingham State (MA). Before joining the RIC staff prior to last season, Jones had been an assistant at Medaille College (NY).
- Robert Byrd, the former head coach at Lone Star College-Cy Fair (TX) has become an assistant at the University of St. Thomas in Houston. He had been at LSC- Cy Fair since 2011.
- I have heard that Wallace State CC (AL) has hired Collin Dimitroff as an assistant coach. Dimitroff was most recently a manager at Missouri State.
- Lincoln College (IL), who is headed to their first year as an NAIA member, will hire Edwind McGhee as an assistant coach. McGhee, who had been at Victory Rock Prep (FL), will also serve as the head JV coach at LC.
