A bunch of things that I’ve heard…
- New Indiana head coach Archie Miller has added Drew Gladstone to his staff as a graduate assistant. Gladstone had been the head coach at St. Luke’s School (CT) since 2014, and also served as an administrative staffer to Steve Masiello at Manhattan.
-
Former Alabama and Providence associate head coach Bob Simon has been named as the head coach at Southview (OH) high school. Simon has also been the associate head coach at Toledo and Fairfield, and spent time as the head women’s basketball coach at Wayne State.
-
Another former DI guy headed to the HS level…Matthew “Mike” Smith will become the head coach at Jemison (AL) high school. Most recently, Smith was an assistant coach at Alabama A&M, and has also worked at Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Mississippi Valley State, Kennesaw State, Jacksonville State, Centenary College and Southeastern Louisiana.
-
I have heard that East Central University assistant coach Aaron Hill will be promoted to associate head coach. He has been on the Tigers staff since 2014, and was an assistant at Eastern Arizona before that.
-
Adam Kaplan will join the Lynn University basketball staff as a graduate assistant. The former assistant coach at both Wheelock College and Suffolk University had most recently been scouting for European clubs.
-
I have heard that San Francisco State head coach Vince Inglima will hire Tyler Brown as an assistant coach. Brown had spent the past three seasons as an assistant coach at Cal State Monterey Bay.
-
Sean Kirk and Bobby Brackett have been hired as assistant coaches at DIII Bryn Athyn College (PA). Kirk had spent the past two seasons as an assistant at Franciscan University of Steubenville (OH), while Brackett just wrapped up his playing career at the College of New Jersey where he was a 1,000 point scorer. An official announcement about the hirings is expected shortly.
- I have heard that DIII Kings Point has made their decision on a new head coach, and an announcement is expected shortly. At least two current DI assistant coaches were in the final group. More on this as I hear it.

Our thoughts are with former Merrimack College head coach Bert Hammel and his family. Hammel underwent heart surgery on Friday and as of last report was still in critical condition in Boston hospital. Hammel is one of the really good guys in this business…
