A few things that I’ve heard as we roll into August…

Bucknell assistant Joe Meehan has departed the staff. He had been at Bucknell since 2015 – first as the DBO, and was promoted to assistant coach prior to the 2016-17 season. Meehan has become the the Director of Scouting/Recruiting for a professional basketball agency in Europe.

Kyle Roane has returned to Southeastern Louisiana as the associate head coach. Roane was on Jay Ladner’s staff at Southern Miss last season, after previously serving under Ladner at SLU. He replaces Mark Lieberman, who resigned back in the spring and took a HS job in the Louisville area.

Tahar Sutton has been named as an assistant at Quinnipiac. Sutton has served as the 17U EYBL head coach for Team Final (AAU) and also worked as an assistant at IMHOTEP Charter in Philadelphia. An official announcement is expected shortly.

According to Longhorns Wire, Brandon Chappell will be hired as an assistant at Texas. Chappell spent last season as an assistant at UNLV, and has also worked at Lamar, Northern Arizona, and Arkansas Ft. Smith.

Emporia State has hired Adam Gage as an assistant coach. Gage had previously served as the manager of basketball operations at Morehead State, and also spent time as a GA there. The former manager at Florida Gulf Coast started his coaching career as an assistant at the College of Central Florida.

Daniel Roibal, who spent last season in as administrative role at VMI, will become an assistant at D2 American International College. Before his time at VMI, Roibal was a graduate assistant at D3 Rutgers-Newark.
