Daily Dirt – 8/12/11

Some dirt as we roll into the weekend….

Rice University is expected to announce a contract extension for head coach Ben Braun. According to sources, the deal will last through the 2016 season. Braun will be entering his fourth season at Rice with previous stops at Eastern Michigan and Cal. He is closing in on win #600. Expect the official announcement as early as today.

I’ve heard that Clayton State assistant Andy Harre is resigning and will accept a spot on Bobby Washington’s staff at Grambling State. Harre had been an assistant at Clayton State for the past five seasons. He has previously worked as an assistant for Coach Washington when the two were at Seminole CC.

State College of Florida head coach Reggie Bellamy has resigned. He went 61-76 in his five seasons at the helm. He will take over the program at Palmetto High School (FL). Sounds like an interim head coach will be hired quickly here with school approaching. Two candidates are current assistants Lem Andrews and Arthur Larkins. Look for an announcement shortly.
