Just got back from a week on the great Canadian coast of Maine. Here are a bunch of things that I heard while I was gone…
• It sounds like Mark Hsu will be named as an assistant at Cal State Bakersfield. Hsu has previously been an assistant at Texas Southern and Binghamton. He has also worked in administrative roles at New Mexico State and Oregon State.
• I can confirm that Presbyterian College assistant Sean Dixon will be named as an assistant at UNC-Asheville. Dixon has been at PC as an assistant for three seasons. He is a 2007 graduate of the school – he scored 1106 career points for the Blue Hose.
• Before I went on vacation, I mentioned that former Holy Cross head coach Sean Kearney was involved with an administrative spot at Colorado (http://www.hoopdirt.com/blog/85a7dc0e/daily-dirt-7-29-13/…) . I can now confirm that he has accepted that position. He replaces Tom Abatemarco who became an assistant at Loyola Marymount in June.
• I can also confirm that Paris JC (TX) has hired Bilal Batley as an assistant. He was a former staffer to John Calipari at both Memphis and Kentucky.
• I have heard that Willamette University (OR) has hired Patrick Adelman as an assistant. He has previously worked at Chemeketa CC, William Jessup University and Granite Bay HS (CA). Adelman will also serve as the JV Program Director at Williamette. He is the youngest son of NBA coach Rick Adelman and will replace J. Jay Davis who is pursuing other opportunities closer to his family in Seattle.
• It sounds like Grant Leonard, an assistant coach at Paine College (GA) has taken the assistant coaching position at Queens University in Charlotte. Leonard was an assistant at Paine for the past three years, and had stints at Flagler and UT-Pan American prior to that.
